A BIG Move!!

The last few years have been crazy busy and I really did not have as much time as I had hoped to keep everything updated. On top of that, we moved over 600 miles from where we had lived for over twenty years. To say I’m a little homesick is an understatement, but it was a good move, and our new state is beautiful with LOTS to explore! I am looking forward to getting my site updated and posting some of our new adventures over the coming year. So stay tuned! 🙂

Its been awhile!

I have to apologize for not posting the last few years. It is amazing how fast time has flown by!

We were able to finally get out of our RV and into a small house in exchange for working for a local business, so its a pretty good deal and came as a huge blessing as the RV was falling apart.

We have been working on getting through the rest of the stuff in our storage units and I got my resale shop & office open in Liberty City, just outside of Kilgore. If you are in the area, stop by and visit for a minute.

I am also attending two different colleges right now. One is to get my BA in Health & Wellness so that I can work toward getting into the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR to pursue my Naturopathic Doctor (ND) and able to practice as a General Practitioner (GP).

I am also working toward Certified Health Specialist (CHS), Certified Natural Health Professional (CNHP), Doctor of Naturopathy (ND), Advanced Certified Nutritional Consultant (ACNC), Master Herbalist (MH), and Master Iridologist (MI) certificate programs through Trinity School of Natural Health, which will allow me to counsel and educate others in natural health options specific to their needs.

So, super busy. 🙂 This year and next I plan to finish getting all our vacation photos and travels uploaded. With the new updates to WP my template isn’t working correctly anymore for showing our map of where we have been, so I will be working on a new template and new Google map for the website.

Until next time,

What if Nothing Was Impossible?

This is so amazing! How many times in your life have you wanted to do something, but it looked like it was impossible to do? Don’t let what you think you see stop you from chasing your dreams!

TMB (Thai Military Bank) have launched a new brand vision “Make THE Difference” by making a film to inspire people to start thinking differently. This short video is based on a TRUE STORY, about a group of kids that did the IMPOSSIBLE!!

In 1986 a football team that lived on a Small Island in the Thailand called “Koh Panyee”. It’s a floating village in the sea that has not an inch of soil. The kids here loved to watch football but had nowhere to play or practice. But they didn’t let that stop them. They challenged the norm and have become a great inspiration for new generations.

A reminder that any challenges you face in life, with real effort you can make a difference. If you like this video as much as I do, please clicks SHARE… because everyone could use some INSPIRATION…

Make it a GREAT DAY

A Very Busy March

March was indeed a very busy month for us. It started out pretty frozen and wet, warmed up to the eighties, then back to freezing again. I guess Spring just couldn’t make up it’s mind if it wanted to stay or not, as winter kept making a few last appearances.

My back decided it was going to rebel on me this month and as I was standing up from lighting the oven one night I felt that horrible, sickening slip, and then immense, horrible, excruciating pain!!!! To bed I went and stayed for several days until I could get a hold of a chiropractor that was local. I love the one I have been seeing for the past few years, but he is an objective straight chiropractor, (hope I got that correct Dr Nix) which means he just helps keep your spine healthy by keeping the nerve channels open and reducing subluxations). But this time I needed a therapeutic chiropractor to get my back, back in shape! 🙂 So I consulted the “Great Oracle” (aka Google) for local chiropractors and found Dr Chris Gratton, and he was only $40 a visit! Woo Hoo! He finally figured out why I have had so many problems too. I had one hip shifted one way, the other hip shifted another, and my tailbone was twisted! Well geeze! I guess after three car accidents, being thrown around a wrestling ring for three years and having 5 babies kinda got everything in a twist, lol. So that has been a weekly event getting my hips and back straight again. And oh what an amazing difference it is making! If you are in East Texas and are looking for a good chiropractor I recommend Dr Chris Gratton. I also recommend Dr Nathan Nix at Nix Chiropractic in Tyler as a great chiropractor for everyday spine care for your whole family! For one monthly fee you can have your whole family checked and adjusted for unlimited visits each month. This is a really great way to keep your family healthy. And yes we still also still visit Dr Nix each week. And of course I use my Young Living Essential Oils to help with my back. Valor and Deep Relief help specifically to help bring relief to my back. I use the Valor before and after my adjustments. It helps my spine to keep the adjustment. The Deep Relief brings relief to my sore back muscles. Learn more about these oils <<<HERE>>>

My brave little girl at the Eye Dr waiting to get her eye looked at.

A couple Tuesdays a month one of the local homeschool groups meet at one of the local parks so the kids can play. On one of the playdays the wind was blowing pretty hard, it was one of the really nice weather days. Stormy came to me after a while complaining of her eye hurting. When I looked she had something stuck in her eyeball! Oh my! That is not something to be played around with. We tried to flush her eye, tried to tear it out, but it was not budging! So we had to call the eye Dr and take her in for an emergency visit. Poor thing was very scared, especially when the Eye Dr pulled out the sharp silver tool and said he needed to touch her eyeball with it! Oh my! But what a brave girl she was. She was applying her Young Living Peace & Calming essential oil from the moment we learned we would have to visit the eye doctor from her own oil kit she carried with her. We were also applying Young Living Lavender Essential Oil around the orbit of the eye to help with the irritation.

Stormy's own oil kit that she keeps with her at all times! It's compact and just the right size to carry on her little purse!
Stormy’s own oil kit that she keeps with her at all times! It’s compact and just the right size to carry on her little purse!

Thankfully it was quick and easy. It ended up being just a clod of dirt that had lodged in the lining of the eye and as soon as the doctor touched it it dislodged and he was able to flush it out. Yeah! All better! But what an adventure! We ended up only needing to use the eye drops the Dr gave her just once as we continued to use the Young Living Lavender Essential Oil around her eyes instead. By the next morning there was no more irritation or redness! I don’t know what we would do without our Young Living Oils! Learn more about these oils <<<HERE>>>

The next weekend Stormy got to spend the weekend with Grandma, Sugar got to go play and make new friends at the Doggie Hotel, (If you are in East Texas I recommend Lonestar Boarding Kennels, they are so wonderful with your four-legged children!) and mama headed to Birmingham, AL! Young Living held a “Discovering Nature’s Remedies” class there and I had planned on going for months. So I rented a car and packed my oils and off I went! It took about 9 hours from where I live currently to get there, and the trip there was oh so painful! I guess the stress of the trip also caused a shingles outbreak to start on my face and back. What joy :/ I stopped frequently and would reapply my oils and take Copaiba, Balsam Fir, and Frankincense in a capsule to help with the pain. I was NOT going to be deterred! I finally made it late Friday night and settled in to the hotel. Saturday I made my way to downtown Birmingham to the hotel where the class was being held. We will have to make a trip back to Birmingham sometime to actually visit. They even had a Castle downtown! The class was awesome. Dr Scott Johnson and Dr Dan Purser presented the days training.  It was a great day. As they spoke about an issue they presented the oil or supplement that has been formulated to help, then that oil got passed around to all audience members to experience. I was still hurting pretty bad, between my back and shingles, and between smelling and applying everything being passed around I was applying and ingesting my own oils. It was a really great day. I learned so much and was well worth the trip. When I woke up Sunday morning to get ready to head home, I noticed something! My excruciating pain was gone!!! I was still a little tight and sore in my lower back and hips, but the intense pain from my back  and the shingles was GONE! Holy Cow!!! My trip back to East Texas was a breeze! And I have not had any intense, excruciating pain since! I continue to use my oils as needed and have not had to use any OTC products at all! It is awesome!

East Texas Snow

WP_20140302_17_08_15_Pro__highres

March 2 the temperature dropped and it started to snow! We get snow every few years or so here in East Texas, but it’s still a rare site to see. It was downright cold for a few days too.

WP_20140303_09_50_41_Pro__highres

By the next day we actually had a little accumulation! The snow stuck around for a couple days, which is definitely a rare thing! But I would be lying if I said I wasn’t glad to see it go!

WP_20140303_09_50_48_Pro__highres

It rained a bunch of sleet and ice too and made it very dangerous to try and go out as everything was coated in solid ice. It completely froze the front of our truck. The temps stayed below freezing for almost a week. I tried to make a run to the store, but the ice had frozen over the air intakes on the truck and she wouldn’t go. so I had to wait till she thawed out!

WP_20140303_001

I made use of my time indoors though. Rearranged the kitchen and cleaned out our fridge that died a few months before and turned it into a pantry. Gotta make use of every bit of space I can!

Eventually we thawed out and proceeded with the entrance of Spring!

Tuesday February 14, 2014

Its been three weeks and $2,000 later, my truck is still in the shop. We finally got the fuel pump and lines and seals all replaced, only to discover the high pressure oil pump was out too. I’m still waiting to hear from the mechanic if there is anything else wrong once he get the oil pump in. I really hope not! In the meantime I’ve had to resort to renting a car, as my husband is out of town working all the time, and I can’t be this long without a vehicle. So we have the rental car fees on top of repairs! My oh my! That got expensive quick!

You would never know it today, being that we are knocking on almost 70 degrees, that two days ago we were covered in solid ice! I was going to try and get some pictures but on the way out the door to walk Sugar, my feet slipped on the ice and sent me crashing down the steps and I slammed into the side of the rental car. All I could think at first was, “Oh, I hope no one saw me!” LOL My second one was praying I hadn’t broke anything since my left leg was folded up under me and my ankle was at an angle it should never be in. Thankfully nothing was broken and I managed to slowly get to my feet. I was in horrible pain! My left foot and ankle and whole left side was just excruciating pain. I sliced open one of my finger on my right hand and slammed the underside of my right arm where I was trying to grab on for dear life! My poor dog, I must have startled her because she piddled a little in the doorway, but was looking at me like, “Come-on and quit playing, I got to go!” So I hobbled her to the field so she could do her business, and hobbled back.

young living essential oilsAs soon as I was back in, I grabbed my Young Living Essential Oils and started putting oils everywhere I hurt, which was pretty much everywhere. I never wished for a bathtub as much as I had at that moment so I could have just soaked! Almost considered renting a hotel just so I could soak in a tub, but then reconsidered it when I thought of having to clean it and detoxify it with Thieves first. So I opted to just keep apply oils to myself.

Then yesterday, my daughter woke up running a fever of 103. So I began putting my oils on her and diffusing Thieves in my Home Diffuser. Thankfully by the end of the day her fever was gone and she was feeling so much better.

young living essential oilsMeanwhile during all this my husband ended up spending about 36 hours straight on one location, got to come home for only a few hours to get a short nap then had to leave again at 11pm last night to be in south Mississippi by 7 am this morning. So yesterday between oiling myself and my daughter and diffusing I put together a bag of Young Living Oils for him to take with him.

So in essence its been a very hectic several days, but I am so incredibly blessed to have my oils to help my family stay healthy and heal rather than having to run to the doctor for every little thing. And the oils are AMAZING for relieving stress!

A Week Long Test of my Preparations for Emergencies!

THRIVE Food Storage

TruckGot an Update on my truck this morning. It will still be a couple more days as the mechanic is having trouble tracking down the right part. It was my fuel pump that died, but because our truck is an early ’97, which means some parts are ’97, some are ’96. And it being a 7.3 litter power stroke, not everyone stocks the part. Once he can get it, it is still a 6-8 hour job as he has to tear down the top half of the engine to get to it. And he still has not been able to locate a new water reservoir, but we are mainly concerned with getting it up and running right now. But at least on a positive note, this will stop the diesel leak we have had for the last two years. 🙂 So I will still be without a ride anywhere for a few more days, which will end up being a week by the time I get my truck back.

With my hubby working out of town right now this leaves me and baby girl completely stuck at home, unless we rely on others to take us anywhere, so I figured this would be a good opportunity for me to test out some of my preps as you never know when something will happen that will prevent you from being able to go to the grocery store or leave your home. You need to be prepared for these times. Because, yes, even here in East Texas we can get snowed or iced in for a few days to a week! Or who knows what else may happen that could prevent you being able to just run to the store! Remember what happened after the Boston Marathon?

THRIVE Food StorageDo you have what you need to feed and care for your family during that time? Even the Red Cross suggests having a minimum of three days worth of food, supplies, medications, etc., on hand and having a plan for different scenarios. I thought I was pretty much ok with what I have been doing, of course in the back of my mind I always knew I could do better. Even with me understanding this concept I have seen some major short-comings in my preparations so far during this test. I would like to think of myself as working toward being prepared and I try to keep at least two weeks worth of food storage here at my RV, restocking about every two weeks or so. Because of the reduced amount of space I have here at my camper I keep the majority of my preps and food storage at a separate secured location only half a mile away, but I now realize that I need to increase the amount of food I keep here to about three or more weeks, or move some more of my staples to my RV and restock every week, rather than when I get low.

I’m actually grateful this happened like it did because we never know when an emergency or an unexpected hardship will happen! The day my truck broke down I was actually on my way to run some errands, including getting some more food and preps to have at my camper to prepare for the arctic cold weather that was heading our way for the weekend, but things did not work out the way I had planned and I was not able to pick up any more food from the market or from my Home Store in storage. Sitting there the almost two hours in my truck watching it snow waiting on the tow truck driver also made me aware that I had not updated my Emergency Vehicle Kit for winter in my truck yet. So that is also something I need to do as soon as I get it back. Thankfully we had our heavy coats on, some water bottles, and some freeze-dried snacks to munch on while we waited.

I am extremely thankful for what I have prepared for already, this has been a good test for me to really understand what I need to do better and will be working on in the upcoming weeks. I also realize that this wasn’t a complete 100% test, this time. As I restock and reorganize I will also be making plans for a power and water out scenario. As you just never know! And after this partial test, I would not want to be caught in a situation where not only do I not have food, but power could be out and/or no water either.  I have propane to cook with and extra water stored, but I need to do better with keeping my propane bottles full and storing extra blankets here at the RV, just in case, as our heater is electric.

If you would like more information on making sure your family is prepared please check out my website below or contact me for more information. Our lives and the lives of our families are our responsibility, NOT someone else’s! I do not want to rely on some agency to provide my basic needs, when I should have already done so! When you really think about it, when unexpected things happen, emergencies, natural disasters, etc., it is you and your neighbors that have to take care of each other first before any other agencies ever show up. Sometimes they can not even get to you, as it was the case in Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy, it was days before first responders could even get thru to most people because of the damage. You are the first responder to your family and your neighbors! The better prepared we can be, the less devastation we can help prevent!
